Sometimes this happens when you want to install a plugin, or a new theme or simply upgrading your wordpress.

On a shared hosting environment, you don’t (or maybe seldom) encounter this but if you’re on VPS or Dedicated Server, chances are, you will always see this.

HERE’S HOW:

– Open your wp-config.php and add the following :

//*added ftp login credentials to avoid WordPress asking for FTP details every time I wanted to upgrade a plugin*
 define('FTP_HOST', 'ftp.yoursite.com');
 define('FTP_USER', 'Your_FTP_Username');
 define('FTP_PASS', 'Your_FTP_password');
 //*If you can use a SSL connection set this to true*
 define('FTP_SSL', true);

or

Paste the following to your wp-config.php

define('FS_METHOD', 'direct');
